Michael A. Bell
MD, FACS
Dr. Bell attended college and medical school at East Carolina
University where he obtained a BS degree in biology and his
MD. He did his internship and residency in general surgery
at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Dr. Bell's practice includes general and bariatric surgery
with a special interest in Lap-Band surgery.
Other special interests include breast and colon cancer, as
well as surgery of the biliary tract. Newer surgical techniques
include minimally invasive breast biopsy techniques such
as stereotactic breast biopsy and ultrasound-guided
Mammotome breast biopsy, done as office procedures.
Dr. Bell practices with Carolinas Center for Surgery and
operates at Carteret General Hospital and The Surgical
Center of Morehead City.
Dr. Bell is Board Certified in General Surgery. He is a Fellow
in the American College of Surgeons and a member of the
American Society of Bariatric Surgery.
Dr. Bell grew up in Morehead City. He and his wife Jennifer
have five children ranging from 19 years of age to twin girls
that are age two and one half years. They are members of the
First United Methodist Church. Growing up in this area, he
is very proud to be able to contribute to the health and wellbeing
of our community.
